Exciting Weeekend & Busy Month ahead

Posted by Marty Hersh on Tuesday, March 3, 2009

I have had, as always, a very busy but productive week. We had our Through the Veil Radio Show Tuesday evening and SPR Radio show this past Thursday night.  The weekend began with a little disappointment, we had to cancel the Y102 to event because of the severe weather, but we are planning another event next week and we will make it up to the winners.

The remainder of the weekend was an upswing and a weekend I needed to get centered again and focused for the many months ahead.   I had a really good Saturday.  I enjoyed the morning with my sons and in the afternoon Jake Bell and I headed to Selma to meet the rest of my team and prepare for the investigation that night.   We normally stay at the St. James Hotel but we tried something different.  We stayed at the Bridgetender’s House, which is a little house behind the St. James Hotel and it is absolutely extraordinary.  I am a firm believer in signs, and the first sign that we were going to have a good weekend and good month ahead was as soon as you walk into the Bridgetender’s House, there were a photo on the wall of Edgar Cayce and his family standing on the bridge.  Until it was time to organize for the investigation, we all hung out, joked around and I learned a whole new appreciation for the card game “21”, lol.  (it is a inside joke with me and my team).  After dinner at the St. James Hotel, we headed to Edgar Cayce’s former home for our investigation.  We had a large team and thanks to Cindy, Charles and Robert, they allowed us to split our teams and have one team investigate Edgar Cayce’s home and the other team investigates the Vaughn Smitherman Museum.   We also had two guests go along with Saturday night.  It was an honor and pleasure to meet them both and I am glad they had a good time.

I felt honored and blessed to have the opportunity to investigate Mr. Cayce’s home.  I have great respect for that man.  An instance that sticks out to me about this night, while we were using the ghost box, we asked a question in regards to Mr. Cayce and the answer was returned to us that Mr. Cayce was a soul doctor.  I thought that was very fitting because of the stories and facts that I had read about that extraordinary man.   After a long night of investigating, we returned to the Bridgetender’s House, went to sleep and when we awoke Sunday morning, we were in a winter wonderland.  As cheesy as that sounds, it was really nice and centering to sit on the porch and watch the snow fall into the Alabama River.   It was a great weekend and I think my team enjoyed it as well.

When I returned home I got some disappointing news that Patrick Burns will not be attend our event in Prattville. He had a project come up.  I understand, due to the circumstances, we are unable to pay anything to our guest because not only are we non-profit but this is a benefit for the historic Buena Vista. I talked to Babs and she is going to try and work it out and attend the event since Patrick had to cancel. I appreciate everything Babs has done and is trying to do in paranormal community.

I am really excited about this upcoming week; we have two radio shows Tuesday night “Through the Veil” and Thursday night “Chatting with SPR”.  This Friday night Jake and Hump and I are going to spend the night in Buena Vista with just a Flash Light, Instant Cameras and a note book. We are going to try to capture the way it was when we were kids doing this. We are going to try to capture some of that childhood magic and put it down in a short story as an E-book with the proceeds going to Buena Vista. The rest of our schedule is filling up and I am really excited about that.

Know this: that whatever situation you find yourself in, it is what is necessary for your development. An entity must apply in its associations from day to day a word here and a word there, one today, another tomorrow, and the next day, with the understanding that from such activities in word and deed, self-development will come... When an entity has prepared itself through constant forward movement towards service, the necessary circumstances for change will come about so that he may see the next step, the next opportunity... Haste not and be not over-anxious; for is not the whole of the building of His making?”
