New Orleans - Never Better!
What a terrific weekend! As you may know, SPR was scheduled to investigate a private house in New Orleans this past weekend. Marty, Scottie, Trevor and I headed to New Orleans Thursday night. We arrived at our investigation location around 11:00, met with Andrea who let us in and showed us around. Once he got settled and quite in one of the downstairs rooms we split into two teams. Scottie and Marty stayed downstairs and Trevor and I went upstairs. WE all investigated for about 2 hours, then we made our way to the slave quarters, where which, one of them had been turned into a small 3 room apartment. This would be my sleeping area for the duration of the weekend, with Jake, Greg, Trevor and Josh. The rest of the team, when they arrive, will be staying at my new favorite place in New Orleans – The Rathbone Inn. Friday we got up, wasted a little time just driving around town until we were ready to check into the Rathbone Inn. After we checked in we went to the pool and swam and played and had a great time. Friday evening while we awaited the arrival of the rest of the team, Trevor and I took the long journey to find a place to order pizza and take it back for all of us. The rest of the group arrived between 10:30 and midnight. The remaining group consisted of Jake, Greg, Shelly, our new members, Josh and Tammy and Beth Anne, who is currently on leave from SPR, but we were pleased to have her join us for this investigation. Friday night the entire group investigated into the wee hours of the morning. At bedtime, Josh was on the floor getting comfortable, when Jake and I heard this gut curdling scream ----- Greg had walked up on Josh and scared the mess out of him, we all laughed ourselves to sleep with that one. We had been recording in this apartment all night so naturally we had to share the scream we captured with the rest of the group the next morning. Saturday the group sort of split up while we all walked around the quarter. We had scheduled to attend Lord Chaz’s tour, which we do every time we are there. As usual it was great! I had the pleasure of meeting up with my friend, Tonya, she went with us on the tour, then afterwards to eat at the Clover Grill and then to the house to investigate with us. It was so nice to see her again and hang out with her a while. Sunday came and it was time to head home. Scottie got up and was ready to hotfoot it home (it was Mother’s day), Marty, Shelly and Trevor left with her. The rest of the group just hung around New Orleans for a while before heading home. Oh wow! I almost forgot the funniest part of the weekend. Friday morning while we were driving around town, we needed fuel, so we stopped at a gas station. Scottie parked at the farthest pump possible. Marty stepped out to go prepay, Trevor decided we wants to go in also, so he hopped out of the truck and rushes to catch up with, his Mom, Marty. When Marty get’s back to the truck I get to hear the story. As Marty was walking to the station, about ½ way there she hears scuffle, shuffle, slap! – she looks behind her to find Trevor face down, flat on his stomach. She said it took her a second as she said to herself “is that Trevor”? He gets up and is not hurt. Too bad I did not get to see it, as a matter of fact no one saw it except Marty and a one eyed lady who exited the store as Marty & Trevor entered asking “is he okay”. WOW Good times!
